The monsters have attack and defence but also health points too. However, it does feel like it oversteps the great gameplay decisions of Duellists of the Roses which seemed to nail this balance perfectly. It’s a weird approach for sure but it does have a certain level of charm that can’t be ignored. The game suddenly feels like a Yu-Gi-Oh branded version of Final Fantasy Tactics, Chrono Trigger or X-Com in the way it plays, only combined with table top chess. Plus you’ll have a set amount of action points to carry out your tactics with. ![]() You will have a certain amount of action points in order to summon monsters to the battlefield, the attributes of these monsters will play out like a rock, paper, scissors outcome based on the effect of the monster. What you’ll immediately feel as you enter your first duel, is that proceedings will feel more like a turn-based strategy game. ![]() This game changes the usual format up quite considerably in terms of the core gameplay.
